We Know Who is Going to Win on November 5
Are we drifting into the political morass that seems to have paralyzed our nation’s citizens and media?
I’d rather stick pins in my eyes!
But we do feel it is very important to address the issue of “winning” next week.
We go out of our way to avoid predictions, and the word “guarantee” has been banished from our professional vocabulary for decades.
There is one conclusion, however, that we feel confident in assuring you of…..
Despite agreeing that the election results will likely provide all of us, regardless of political leanings, to wring our hands over something – you can “win” next week by simply holding steady to your investment policy and not reacting to the results.
Don’t take our word for it – refer to this 75-year visual that clearly demonstrates what we’ve strongly encouraged the clients of Proquility to focus on – not allowing politics to interfere with investment policy:
Might there be some extra volatility in the markets associated with the election outcome?
Of course, and there will be more opinions on those potential short-term gyrations than any of us will possibly be able to read. But those media posts will overlook the fact that none of those prognostications will impact your portfolio unless you allow them to.
So our best advice on the cusp of this Presidential election is:
- Exercise your duty to cast your vote
- Avoid any material changes to your portfolio holdings
- Place your faith in the 500 CEOs who guide our nation’s largest companies vs. our 500+ federally elected officials
- Have your coping mechanism of choice at the ready!
Who is going to win on November 5?
You are, by not allowing the incessant election “noise” to alter your well-crafted, long term investment policy. And if you think your current investment policy might need some tweaking or a second set of eyes, please let us know and we’d be happy to weigh in without obligation.
